ASB customers are urged to take action now to transfer their Current Accounts to another financial services provider.
The Bank recently announced it was implementing a phased end to its business activities (click HERE for more information). The wind-up is now well underway and and all Current Account will be closed on April 28, 2017.
Internet banking and VISA Debit and Electron cards also will be withdrawn on April 28, 2017, and the Coatbridge and Bellshill branches will close then.
It is important to note also that Direct Debits, Standing Orders and recurring debit card payments will not be paid after April 28 and no funds - including salary payments - will be paid into accounts after this date.
Customers who haven’t done so need to begin the process of closing their accounts now as account transfers to another bank can take more than four weeks.
Money held is returned to customers when they close their accounts at which point access to internet banking is withdrawn and use of VISA Debit and Electron cards stopped. Customers, therefore, need to choose a new bank before closing their account.
Also, as ASB doesn’t participate in the Current Account Switching Service (CASS), customers need to request a manual switch at their new bank. All financial services providers should offer this. Customers, or their new bank, will be given, on request, a list of their Standing Orders and Direct Debits.
